Target Mastercard Upgrade and CLI
I was notified about a month ago about my REDcard being upgraded to a Target Mastercard this month which marks my two year anniversary with them. The card is currently on its way and I'm excited to recieve it! I was also surprised to learn that they gave me a $7000 CLI to go along with it! My credit limit was at $2000 but now it is $9000 which was completely unexpected. I shop at Target on almost a weekly basis so I'm happy that my patronage has been rewarded lol.

Great Scott!! - Amex BCE | Lowes | NFCU Platinum
Back on the road to recovery in many ways. Three years ago my wife lost her job due to a company shutdown (40%) of our income and a month later she was diagosed with stage 2 breast cancer. We didn't carry much CC debt with the 4 credit cards we had. We have good health insurance but with her job loss, 14 months of treatment and recovery and co-pays we maxed out everything and used ALL of our savings. We managed to keep all the cards current, car payments made and had a roof over our head. Some of those medical bills turned to collections unfortunately. $2,800 in collections. We were 97% maxxed on our cards for well over a year.
Fast forward my wife is doing well and I've been hammering away at those 4 cards since. We just paid off the last collection a week ago and it was removed. Our current utilization is down to 2%.
I went on an app spree in the last 20 days and picked up an Amex BCE (I should have been patient and waited until that collection was off but I didn't). They gave me a $1,000. I'll ask for that 3xCLI when the 61 day mark rolls around.
Next was Lowes. Approved online for 1K so I called a few days later and they raised it to $12,100. We will use this card down the road when we start building on our Western NC mountain property in the next few years.
We have been with NFCU for 2 decades. We've had a personal loan and several car loans but never a credit card with them. Just reading what others have done made my want to see if I could follow up the $12.1k Lowes limit. I online app'd on 8/15 and the next morning (yesterday) I saw they approved me for 15k. I will ask for a CLI when the time comes for that.
Our score aren't where they were 3 years ago across the board but this year has been personally rewarding seeing our efforts pay off finally. A 207 point increase with EQ especially. I wish I had found this board a year ago and I woudn't have made some technical errors that I made last year and early this year with app's denied and HP's hammering my TU and EX scores. I'm in the garden now until next Spring and back to building our savings.

Apple Card and Data Points
Approved for the Apple Card!
SL- $8,000
APR- 23.99
TU 696
Hard Pulls- 2
In the last 88 days I got the Amazon Prime Card and an auto loan 38 days ago which obviously dinged up my FICO score. Other history is a foreclosure in 2014 along with student loan late payments during that very bad time in my life. No missed payments in over three years. My highest card is my Discover It at $7,700 so the Apple Card is now my highest limit card in the portfolio. Total revolving credit is $30,400.
Discover auto CLI
Woke up this morning to a email stating discover increased my cli to 17,400 from 14,500. Wasn’t sure they have auto cli. Some data points have had card 6 months current balance around 4K one large purchase in March and a couple swipes a week. One payment a month of 350$ credit score 701.
Approved for CSP with LOL/24, but......
Logged into Chase to pay my FU when I saw red message light which usually is for offers for a checking account, investment account, etc. To my surprise when I opened it, the green checkmark was a preapproval for the CSP. This card has been on my radar, but since I was way over 5/24, I never attempted to apply. However, with the preapproval, I jumped on it, not thinking. I received the "we will get back if we need more info." First of all, credit was frozen. So when I was notified that Chase had attempted to pull TU, I thawed it and contacted the Chase number for application status. When I explained what had happened, the csr transferred my to the uw. She pulled TU and put me on hold. She came back with an approval of $11,900. I was amazed.
Secondly, the "but" is that I had been approved for 2 other cards in the past two months that have not reported. Last week, I was approved for the TD Ameritrade Visa with a hp on EX which had not reported. I also was approved for the AMEX Delta Platinum two months ago which was a sp and not yet reported. I realize that AA is dependent on YMMV, however, not sure if Chase will take action in closing my 2 cards with them. I just need to wait and see.
Funny Credit One story
Well the time came to start offing the starter cards which I don’t need and don’t use anymore. Besides the piddly limits and monthly fees are just annoying. First Prem was a simple in app message to close and not so much as a sorry to see you go I got a two word message back “account closed”. The Credit One story was different. Could not find a way to do it online so I called them. Nice lady in Manila said she was so sorry that I wanted to cancel and she wanted to know why. So I told her I didn’t need them anymore and that the 800 and 1100 limits on the two cards were of no use to me. I thanked her for the service but just close the cards. She got all excited and said “wait I have wonderful news for you.... I can increase your credit limit by $200 on both cards AND I can waive the fees for 3 months on one card and TIL end of 2020 on the other. Who knows why they would be different and she couldn’t explain. But here is the funny part. She again said with excitement that “I have a special bonus for you since you have been a loyal customer with perfect record I am authorized to give you a special one time bonus ...... wait for it.... a gift credit of $9.70 on one of your accounts if you leave them open”. Well, you can imagine my surprise so I said how could I possibly refuse such a generous offer. No idea where that weird number came from. So I guess I will just keep them open and in the sock drawer until they start charging me fees again. (Oh and the credit did actually show up in about 5 min after the call 😅)
WELCOME NFCU FAMILY
Hello myfico friends, Recently just applied online for a membership with NFCU back in July and approved memship through my military family, I had been reading on the forum about the huge SL the give out to new members. Went in the next day to the branch and spoke with the rep about what they have to offer since my trans score was the highest. She pushed the flagship card so i apped for it and it went into review and later in the day I received an email telling me to check online banking for my decision. Denied........at that point I was lost. Called in to talk to someone and she advised me that the card had a min 5SL and maybe thats why it wasnt approved. As I was talking to the rep I noticed on my online banking main page it was recommended to apply for the cash rewards card. App and was instantly approved but with a 700 SL. Wasnt expecting that expecially since credit one gave me 500 last year. Nonetheless Ive heard nothin but good things about nfcu so Im goin to ride this train until they prove me wrong. Any advise about anything with Nfcu would really be appreciated.......
DISCOVER IT APPROVAL BUT LOW SL
I finally got in the door with Discover. I bank with chase which i have my biggest limits with so I thought Discover would come in with a larger SL. Bummed out but glad to be in with Discover since I have been reading here about the SP for CLI. My question to the forum is should I be concerned with the low SL(being bucketed) or is this a routine thing for discover.
Mini App Spree Approvals and Credit one is no more.

(UPDATE SUCCESS - APPROVED!!!) CITI Pre-Qualified for Costco Anywhere Visa
Hello All,
I am a new member but long-time reader of these forums. I was recently pre-qualified with a 17.24% variable on the pre-qual site. I have been rebuilding my credit (no derogs/lates just high uti for a long period of time - I am a medical student trying to get by). My question is, are the prequals at citi solid? periodically checked in the past with no offers available and finally got one.
Also, I know that after posting my data points I will get some solid advice about paying down my current cards, which I value and am doing. I was wondering if the prequal was solid to help expedite the process of lower total utilization while steadily making more than the minimums on existing cards and not using the new card except PIF.
The main thing that worries me is regarding Citi itself. I have had the AAdvantage and it is by far my favortie card as I hope to use the points I have accrued to travel once Med school is over (less than a year). However, last year around this time the balance chased me with a CLD and have yet to reinstate the original balance ( I havent asked them to either as to not ruffle any feathers). No balance chasing since then and making way more than the minimum every month with high usage and steadily decreasing utilization.
I know apping at the moment is risky, but looking for advice from the experts here. I would imagine I would be better off gardening and paying down balances, maye looking for CLI's periodically. But any strategy or advice in general for my profile would be greatly appreciated.

- A large component of the decrease in overall utilization was being added as AU to a 12.5k card with zero balance.
- Most recent card approval was Discover student it - approved in july for $500
- Second most recent card approval IKEA visa card (Comenity) approved for $2k in June

Inquiries:
Transunion: 8 (State farm? [5/19], Wells Fargo Med school loan [4/19,2/18,9/17,8/17], Rise [3/18],Walmart/synchrony [11/17], Sinclair oil [6/19]. 3 in last year
Equifax: 4 (Discover [6/19] + 3 US Department of Education recurring inquiries from student loan disbursements [6/19,10/18,1/18]) - 3 in last year
Experian: 16? (this high number is news to me - disputing a few that I do not recognize) - 5 in last year
Thank you in advance for any and all help you can provide.
UPDATE: I just couldn't help myself, although I almost certainly shouldn't have, I pulled the trigger. I was instantly approved for $4k!!! I am ecstatic and will be using this card VERY sparingly and PIF while I get my other balances way down. Very happy with the outcome and I believe it was worth the inquiry (only notified of equifax thus far in CA, but have read it is a generally a dual pull with experian as well). Headed off to the garden for quite a while but this one will really help me out for utilization. Thank you for all the advice! I am kicking myself that I didn't go with a second Aadvantage to get the bonus then switch, I was just worried because the costco was my only prequal and felt less risky.
