So, I won't go too much into how I have been rebuilding my credit since Dec 2015/Jan 2016 because the whole story shows up on other posts, but I have been reading these forums like it is a full time job. My scores were in the 530's-550's range when I first started. Recently I had an auto charge off taken off of my Experian report because of disputing the balance. Equifax changed the charge off to $0 bal. I was happy about that because I thought that it would be the whole 7 years that it would show a bal on that account, still waiting on TU dispute. My experian score is now 688 just by having that baddie removed!
So, I have been kind of bad applying at diff places.....Victoria's secret $500 limit, I was approved for Kohl's $300 limit, Macy's $400 limit. So I became brave yesterday and applied at Rooms To Go and was approved for $1500!!!! and also Ashley's Home Furniture $1000!!! I am ok with these limits because I won't be using them much. I never in a million years thought that this early in my rebuilding that I would get approved for anything besides Cap 1 and secured cards. I was declined for an Amex card, but not because of derogatory credit which as weird as it sounds, it was nice to get declined for something else besides a derog!!
Well I remember reading that Macy's has a recon # (800-477-2167), so I called in saying that I did NOT want another credit report pulled, but the limit was really low. The guy stated that I would not have to have a new report pulled and it just so happened that they used the best report, Experian!! He asked me how much and I thought for a second and I said $2000 because I want to go slow with my rebuilding and learn how to manage limits that I have not had before. I was fully expecting for him to laugh and say "you can have another $100 for a $500 limit", but he didn't.....he said congratulations your new limit is now $2000!!! I was in shock!! I even called the automated system to confirm that it was not a joke! It wasn't!! Thanks to everyone on these forums who share knowledge and if you are rebuilding and you are becoming frustrated like I was, know that one day things will start to change!! I just didn't expect for things to change this quickly for me! I am still waiting on a decision from Chase Disney, but no more applying for me for the next 12-18 months!!! I promise!!!
