got some luv from sallie mae!

tldr: got sp cli, apr reduced and addt'l offer. first call. im happy! 

 

for data points, read on. 

 

got transferred to 3 csr. the 3rd one was the right one. she was able to reduce my apr from 14.24% to 10.24%, cli from 5k to 7k and was also offered a bonus of 5k pts if i meet 1k spend by july 4th which i took as i told her, i'll take whatever i can. she actually laughed a little lolz. i then asked when would be the best time to ask for another sp cli, she said there's no set timeframe for it but that i could always call and try whenever and they'll check. i then ask if there was a direct number to them (using the excuse that i got transferred 2x before getting to her. lol), she said there's none. frontline csr is the only way and if they can't do it, they then transfer. all in all, it was a pleasant dealing with barclay. my first call to them.

interesting note though. when i asked about getting their direct number, she mentioned that a 'manager' from the frontline csr transfers to them if the frontline csr can not do the request/s. im thinking this manager was the 2nd csr i spoke to very briefly. also, the first csr was still on the line and reminded me that i was going to speak to a different dept (it was 3 way calling for a few seconds there). she asked for my name and asked what my request was - i mentioned, i was hoping to know if there were any offers on my account like an apr reduction or something or any offers at all. not a second later, she told me i was getting transferred. *she had that 'manager serious direct-to-the-point tone'. lolz but i guess she saw that there were actually offers on my account.

btw i called coz i've been meaning to zero my cash advance limit on my sallie mae card also. a lot of people were/are getting shutdown by the frontline (1st) csr so i thought this was my way in. but i guess it really is ymmv trying to get to the right dept as the first csr was able to do the cash advance to zero liimt for me (i was hoping he couldn't and would transfer me). so when he asked what else he can do for me, that's when i did the 'apr reduction, offers, etc' bit. he put me on hold while he mentioned he was putting in the request with a different dept. came back and that's when i spoke to the 2nd csr (possibly the 'manager' mentioned above).

i also tried pushing my luck when she mentioned i got approved for a 2k increase. i mentioned that i was hoping to have at least 10k limit with them as i have higher limits now with different lenders. she reminded me that it was only a soft inquiry, no real analysis done. if i want, we can proceed with a hard inquiry and maybe get a higher increase. i politely declined. =p
