This forum has been a Godsend- I've been lurking for a few years now, not posting, but absorbing all the information I could and improving my credit.
I decided to go on an app spree after paying off a few cards- Chase and Bank of America both gave me the "your app is being reviewed message." I recon'd and got denials from both. I was really bummed about it because my scores have improved drastically, but their feedback was that my utilization was too high (45%) and I have 2 collections on my report (both total less than 1K and paid in full).
So instead of getting new cards, I decided to do something I've NEVER done: call my cards and ask for lower APRs and CLIs!
-My University Federal Credit Union card went from 2800 to 5k, APR 15.99 to 11.99- HP
-Quicksilver went up $500 with a SP through the website
-Called Barclays for a SP- they offered $500 increase and an APR change from 25% to 21% - still high, but I'll take it
Then I just got a call from Bank of America- my app was reviewed again and they approved me for $3k with a 0% promotional offer!
Now I can breathe and go back to the garden
