So I came out of the garden...Good results though.

I last got approved for the Venture back in August with a suprising 15k limit, and have been using the crap out of it for business purposes, 15-25k/month. The 300-500 a month in travel rebates, plus my frequent business travel havIe worked VERY well for me so far. I have taken a couple weeks worth of vacations with my GF,  plus a few weekends with my son, and turned around and canceled out any "travel" expenses that I didn't already get for free (like most of our rooms), and ended up pretty much just food, attractions, and shopping/souvineers out of pocket. The hotel points/promos plus the Venture have worked out very well for me so far! Smiley Happy

The last couple months I've started getting credit card offers almost daily in the mail. Ranging from $100+yr fee for a $300 secured credit line, to middle range no/low fee and at least a little bit of rewards back cards. I tried to bite on one, from Speedway, since I am there 3-5 times a week and they have expanded to cover my whole business area over the last couple years. They declined me, but sent me mailers almost weekly for their secured version after that. I just don't want to mess with a secured card at this point though.  My '08 scores have risen from a 600 average up to 630something average, over the last 8 months, not great but it's progress. I got dinged with an old utility bill my ex was to pay that went to collections in the mean time too. Sucks, cause that's the only ding I have in the last 3+ years.

So, in the mail I got an offer for the SallieMae Upromise card. I use shoping portals alot, and I have 50ish paid nights in hotels a year. Their rate for most all hotels is 10-11% combined for the portal+using the card. I typically get 3-6% + 2% for the Venture. So 3-5% more cash back for the 5k a year or so I spend on hotels looked good to start! Staples print shop was 10+5%, I use that a decent amount for business. A lot of online stores were 10% combined, Walmart, Kmart, RiteAid, Walgreens, etc...6% combined for eBay, etc...so I bit on the offer, and was approved for $2,900. Woot! Check this card out if you do a decent amount of online shopping. No annual fee either. Since I was aleady out of the garden, I decided to try the SCT on VS while I was at it, never got it to work before. Got the max $500 on the first try, my GF is happy now tho, lol! It's the only retail store that carries her bra size other than a bra outlet store an hour away, and online shopping with them can be a good deal if you watch the sales, the rewards with the card will only make it work better, and heck, it IS kinda fun to help her pick out stuff! lol.
