Opened a new account w/ PenFed and they talked me into applying for a credit card 
Have a couple really old collections on my EQ, but several years of excellent payment history, low util, etc.
Approved for $5K @ 13.24%! Woohoo!
They didn't seem to mind my less-than-perfect report, or a couple newer accounts.
