Hooray! I'm a part of Amex Now!

I just went throught the application for an American Express Blue.  I know it's no the top-tier card, and it's not necessarily the one that I wanted, but I'll take what I can get.  They pulled Experian, which is at 652 and I was approved for $500.

How long should I wait before applying for the one that I want (Every Day Preferred)?

In my wallet: Cap1 Secured ($325) Cap1QS1 ($1500) Barclays Arrival ($500 - I LOATHE BARCLAYS) Penfed Promise ($5500) Penfed Platinum Rewards Visa Signature ($16,000) and my local credit union UFCU ($5000)

Store Cards I have: Amazon Prime ($800) Walmart ($400) SamsClub ($437 - wierd limit)

I have only 15% utilization across all of my credit lines.

My go to is my Penfed Signature Rewards for my every day spending, and I PIF each month.  I balance transferred Barclays and my QuickSilver1 onto the Promise card to take advantage of the 4.9%apr for 12 months and those will be gone in 4 months or so. I have a balance of about $1600 on my UFCU account and it will be gone in 4 months or so.

I really am excited about being part of the Amex Family, but I want to get the EveryDay Preferred to take advantage of the rewards which are a little better for travelling than the Penfed card is.  I have some travel plans for a wedding and another vacation lined up for 2017 and want to maximize my rewards and help with the trip. Plus I like the security of having Amex in my wallet. Thoughts? Concerns? Experiences?
