I got a little out of control last weekend/week and applied for a bunch of different cards. I stopped caring about inquiries because I see some people with 40-50 inquiries on one bureau and getting approvals. I'm nowhere near that mark and I've applied to every card I've wanted except for the high-end $450 AF cards.
Here are the approvals:
Amex PRG
Amex BCE - $8,000 SL
Amex HHonors - $8,500 SL
PenFed Cash Rewards - $1,000 SL pending review for CLI - originally apped for the Platinum Rewards card but they said no and offered me this one.
Discover CLI of $500
Capital One upgrade to Venture One after 3x CLI
Amex 3x CLI on my EDCC (this was in mid-July, however)
I didn't net nearly as many cards as I had hoped. I want to start traveling more so I was trying out for some more travel related cards but it didn't work out. Once I started getting denials I took that as a hint to give it a rest.
Just a data point: apped for the Chase Amazon VISA - got the 30 day message online and on the phone. Then phone went to two weeks. I was ultimately turned down because they "already took a chance" on me in May with my $500 FU.
I'm not really good at the gardening thing but I'm not gonna try for anything else for a while.
