I recently applied for the chase slate card, and the Amazon rewards visa same day, within about 10 minutes. I got approved for the slate ( 1500 ) limit, and denied for the Amazon. I waited unti lafter my slate shipped, then called them up and said " look, I really want amazon, can you just close this, and open it up for me? " they said yes, i asked why i couldn't have them both, and they said you defaulted back in 2006, we want to make sure you can handle the limit. fair enough right?
He proceeds to tell me the slate is useless, and to just throw it away... fine. So the slate arrives, and I save it ( don't use it ). Then the amazon arrives. I immediately put like 10 bucks on it to ensure it does indeed work. So i figured, what the hey, I started moving over balances ( small cards ) to the chase slate. I immediately got a text telling me to call them about fraud ( i did not call ). I waited a few days, tried to use the card as a POS, denied. I got a call about 5 minutes later, nice indian woman asking if these were all me. I said yes, and she said thanks. The card then started to work, and just today all my balance transfer requests wen't through ( they paid them i checked ). So the amazon works still, and the slate works, but i'm only supposed to have one of them. Was this just a random mix up, or did the guy know what he was doing, and just threw me a bone?
