Freedom Unlimited - First Chase card

Hello all,

I've been lurking in the forums for about a month, and until now created an account.

I have been noticing Chase seems to be a hard one to apply with when you're still new on limited history plus they also don't like to be the first credit lender, and some people still can't seem to get in even with history.

I applied for my first credit card in December 2015, a Discover it (unsecured) with a $1250 SL. I was surprised they gave me such a high limit for my first card with no prior history. Earlier this summer, they automatically gave me a $500 increase to $1750.

On September 1st, a friend convinced me to get a Chase card; saying he had gotten approved for the CSP three months after getting his Discover (also his first card); so I hit the trigger for the FU (I've had the Discover for 9 months at this point, PIF each statement, no missed payments). I got the 30-day message online and 7-10 over the phone. I let it rest until 9/3, when I called recon. The analyst said I was put on pending because of my limited credit, but he could look deeper into my report. He asked me for my employer, salary and how long have I been employed there. After about 3 minutes on hold, he told me he approved me with a $3000 credit limit. Discover's Credit Score Card had my Experian score at 726 but I was quite happy that I was able to get my first Chase card 9 months in, he even agreed to rush it to me!

So that's my story about my first Chase card. I'm going to let these two sit for about 6 more months before I apply for a third card. I don't think I want to have more than 3-4 cards total. I'm a loyal American flier and hold elite status with them, so may go with a Citi AA or maybe the CSP to use my FU UR's -- not sure yet.
