THANK YOU! To the Community for my AMEX CLI!!!

I have to post a big thanks to the community for all of your great insights, support and info on this topic.

I spent last night going through the board and gained useful insight, particularly in the AMEX 3x CLI thread, which just aided me in getting a very nice cli on my Marriott Bonvoy AMEX. I've had a 3x cli increase on it in the past, 90 days after opening, and received 2 auto cli from AMEX after that, each spaced 6 months apart, bringing me to a cl of $19,000. I have been sitting at that limit for the past year and a half with no auto or requested credit limit increases. After researching the boards, I decided to take the plunge this afternoon, and request a cli to $34,500. I instantly got a message saying I would get a letter in the mail in 7-10 business days, informing me of their decision. Without the knowledge I gained from this community, I would have just left it there...and received a notice of decline in the mail, a week or two later. Instead, I learned to hit the back button, and submit my request again, lowering my requested amount. I did that, and this time, requested an increase to $30,000, instead of $34,500, and I was instantly approved! Notice said I would see the increase in 15 minutes, however it was instantly available. This is now my highest limit card. I'm super happy and grateful for the wealth of knowledge on these boards.

You guys rock!

Upcoming mini APP/CLI Spree Guidance! - Update: Some Approvals!

2020 is coming to a close! I have successfully raised my scores across all three bureaus over 100 pts in the last 12 months (Fico 8 from 640’s up to 770’s). After my approval for a NFCU Platinum earlier this month I have successfully BT’ed the remainder of my high interest CC debt to 0%. Now I am putting together a plan for a CLI/Consolidation spree for early January when my scores should be completely optimized and my reported DTI and UTI will be at their lowest point until the new NFCU Platinum reports, hopefully not before Jan 16 which will be my 2nd statement.

Currently waiting on US Bank, Citi Simplicity, BECU Visa to report after January 5. This should bring me to AZEO, and I expect a few more points from this.

I plan on applying with BECU for their low APR Visa to BT my NFCU Personal Loan with a 17.7% APR. I plan on using the same TU HP to request a CLI on my BECU Casback Visa ($1000) and am considering a PLOC as well. This is my primary focus. I was denied 6 months ago for having taken a payment deferral on a personal loan with Lending Club. The deferment remark has been removed and that loan had been PIF with my NFCU Personal Loan.

I will be in the garden for 2 years after this spree, paying off the remainder of my debt to focus on a first mortgage at the end of 2022. I figure now would be a good time to get any other HP’s out of the way. I will also be applying for an AMEX Business Prime. I am unsure if they will use my previous soft pull from Dec 26, or if it will be a fresh SP/HP. Also considering applying for membership with PENFED as I won’t be HP scared.

DTI 16%

UTI 1% AZEO

Inquries TU3/EQ1/EX0

These are all HP CLI’s- I am considering requesting on all of them after applying for the BECU Visa. Any insight on order to request CLI’s?

BECU CB Visa- $0/1000

Chase FU- $0/2200

Chase F -$0/2000

US Bank REI - $20/9500

These are all SP CLI’s. Amex is 5 months out from the next CLI. I will request on all of them as well, forever and ever and ever…

Amazon Sync- $0/6000

Amex BCE- $0/4000

Citi Costco- $0/4460

Citi Simplicity- $0/2230

Cap1 QS -$0/9500

Cap 1 Cabelas -$0/500

Not eleigible for CLI’s for 6 months and 3 months.

NFCU Plat MC- $0/1900

NFCU Plat Visa- $10400/15000 (Not reporting yet- Jan 16)

NFCU Personal Loan- $14000/15000

BECU Auto Loan $7000/13000

Any insight, recommendations, or other feedback on which order I should go about this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm on a Roll! Apple Card CLI Finally!!! And it's a Good One!

After being granted a $10,000 CLI from AMEX this afternoon, I just opened my Apple Wallet to find a newly increased credit limit from a request I made last night.

This was my fourth attempt at an Apple Card CLI since opening it this past October, and 1st approval. My last prior attempt was just 14 days ago, at the 92 day Anniversary of my account opening. It is also the 1st time the response was not received instantly via email. Although I was informed I would get an email, it never came, and the increase itself didn't come for 14 hours. But FINALLY I got my increase and it is quite a nice one indeed...they took me from my sl of $3000 to $10,000! Woo hoo! So happy! I've been working hard toward this!

Approved for PenFed PCR, will it grow?

Just became a PenFed member, got approved for a $5,000 Power Cash Rewards. Does this card grow? Or is it like NFCU where your 2nd card gets the bigger starting limit? PenFed stated my Equifax pull was a 705.

FINALLY got in with Chase!

I've been trying to get in with Chase for what feels like forever - specifically, the Disney card. I know it's not generally a great rewards card but we're planning a Disney World trip and that card has some decent WDW benefits.

I started seeing info about some pretty hefty hotel discounts for cardholders. No pre-approvals on Chase Journey, but figured I'd give it a shot before gardening for a while.

Instant $2500 SL! Not a huge limit but enough to get my hotel discount, an easy sub ($100) and cancel another subprime card!

So, I have been reaching credit scores I am quite pleased with. And I've been banking with PenFed for nearly a year now... But with no success getting in with them credit wise (except a tiny overdraft account)... Decided I would try again since I'm now mid-700's...

Received Instant Approval for both a $20,000 Signature Loan and a $2,500 Power Cash Rewards Visa Card

Approved for Apple Mastercard

After exploring my options and with very helpful suggestions from forum members, I finally took the plunge and applied for the Apple Mastercard. I was instantly approved for $3000 after confirming an automated sms phone verification request. So far no hard pull and the temporary lift on my TU has been removed. Not sure if they can still do a HP with my report currently frozen.

Awesome thing about the card is your can use it instantly upon approval using your phone or ipad.

I do appreciate all the help that you wonderful members willingly and freely share. Thank you all!

Macy’s CLI!

Good morning everyone! I was approved 12/2 for a Macy's store card back in early December. It came with a $300 SL but I was fine with that, just grateful to be in with them.

I opened it because as a teacher, I need new clothes since we are back in the building.
I've frequently used and paid this card off in the past 45 days.

So last night, I tried for a CLI and got the call- in message. The woman asked what amount I would like, and I said 2000. So she gave me 1700, bringing my limit to an even 2000.

This will definitely get used! When can I try again?

My other cards are going to be paid off this month (put house repairs on them). I know that's what's holding my scores down. And my chapter 13 should drop off soon (discharged 7/2019).

Amex Delta Blue 3/20 (200/1000); Discover 5/20 (6700/8000); Wells Fargo Platinum 5/20 (2400/3000); Wells Fargo auto (11,000/20,000); USAA visa (3500/5000); Macy's (150/2000).

Key Bank Cash Rewards CLI

I have a ton of credit with Key Bank.  At any point, I called in to request a CLI on my Cash Rewards that I've had for a little over one year without any increase.  Went through the proper screening and the rep said it would be a hard pull.  I agreed based on previous CLI on other Key Bank accounts without a HP.  Came back with an instanct CLI of $2,500.  Total limit now is $10,000.  I have 7 HP's on EQ for 2020.  I verified on my Equifax credit monitoring that it was indeed a SP and not HP.  They've never been inquiry or new account sensitive to me.  They do appear to want to see usage on the card for the past 6 months though.  I've gotten the following accounts over time with them in quick succession:

Cash Rewards 10k

Key2More Rewards 12.5k

Key2More Rewards 12k

Lattitude 30k

Lattitude 14.5k

LOC 28.5k

Best Buy Visa Approved!

I applied for the Best Buy Card, and expected about a $500 Store Card, as that is all Citi gave me on my Home Depot Card 5 months ago.

After calling, I had to give them the CVV Code from my Home Depot Card as an easy verification process (which I really loved the ease of!), then she said I was approved for a $3,000 Visa!

Very excited!!!

My daughter has had her navy card for about a year and a half. Initial line was 3K and I had her ask at 91 days for increase. It was bumped to 6K. She hadn't asked since but I had her go for another one . We asked to be bumped to 10K. It wasn't instant but it showed up within 24 hours .

She uses it here and there but not too much spending . Her navy score is 770 1 inquiry on EQand 1 on EXP  her file is a little over 2.5 years old . Utilization always under 4%.

Amex 3x cli with bk reporting

Hi all, I got the ED card last Jan and BCP in July. I had given up on amex cli's as I have a ch 7 from nov 2013. Was poking around with pre-approvals  and was pre-approved for all cards so I figured I'd give it a shot. Instant approval on my BCP from 3k>9k. I was completely shocked as everything I've read suggested Amex wouldn't give a cli with a bk still reporting. Should have tried on my ED card with a 4k sl instead. Ex 8 in app was 727

FNBO FordPass Rewards Visa approval $14k SL

Went on a "post-mortgage closing" spree for 3 cards, and my #2 card goal was the FNBO FordPass Rewards Visa.  Approved with a $14,000 SL!  Also went for #1 USB Altitude GO (in review atm) and #3 Amazon Store card (approved, see post here).

I've been receiving mailers for this card for a while, but haven't put much consideration into it until running some comparison numbers against other cards (ie: AOD 3%).  It has a somewhat complex reward structure to understand, but I plan on utilizing the $200 annual statement credit after $6000 in 12 month spend (which is essentially a 3.33% cashback when just spending up to the $6000, plus the rewards points on top of that).  Doubt I will use for anything beyond the $6000 annually, because I think the rewards points are really only half value (2 points = $1).  I don't like being locked into a points structure with a company, but I do get my car serviced at the dealership for ease of maintaining documentation for the lifetime engine train warranty that came with the car (in case something does happen).  Will use the points for service I guess.

Card summary:

  • $200 annual statement credit after $6,000 spend in consecutive 12 months
  • $100 statement credit after $3,000 spend in first 3 billing cycles SUB
  • 11,000 FordPass Rewards Points after first purchase (about $55 in terms of money)
  • Points structure is:
    • 5% Ford dealership purchases (10% for service)
    • 3% on gas, auto insurance, tolls, parking, and dining
    • 1% for all other purchases

DP's:

  • Pulled Experian, and my EX 8 was 738 at time of pull (dropped to 736 after inquiries)
  • No prior relationship with FNBO, but I do have a FordPass Rewards account
  • UTI = below 1% ($16 / $59,850 CL)
  • 4 CC's and 1 AU CC
  • 1 auto loan, UTI = 15%
  • Scoreable inquiries = 2/6, 2/12 (both are mortgage HP's, so FICO counts them as 1)
  • AAoA = 6yr 0m
  • AoOA = 12yr 1m
  • AoYA = 1yr 10m
  • BK7 from 2012

Synchrony Amazon Store card approved, $3000 SL

$

Went on a "post-mortgage closing" spree for 3 cards, and my #3 card goal was the Synch Amazon Store card.  Approved with a $3,000 SL!  Also went for #1 USB Altitude GO (in review atm) and #2 FNBO FordPass Rewards Visa (approved, post is here).

Synchrony gave me a good SL compared to what I've seen in the past (looked like they were only handing out $500 for a while).  However, they dinged me with a double HP... hitting both EX and TU.  BLAH!!!

I really wanted to go with the Affinity FCU Cash Rewards card to cover Amazon purchases, but I just don't think I can hit the SUB it offered along with the SUB's from the FordPass Visa and (hopefully) USB GO.  So I took the easy route and nabbed the $60 Amazon SUB by getting the store card.  I'll revisit the Affinity FCU card later this year, especially if they keep offering the Hi5 categories.

DP's:

  • Pulled Experian, and my EX 8 was 736 at time of pull (was at 738 but the prior FNBO pull dropped it down)
  • Also pulled Transunion, and TU 8 was 741.  Synch reported my VS 4 as 785 earlier this month.
  • I only have one other Synch card, the Care Credit card.
  • UTI = below 1% ($16 / $59,850 CL)
  • 4 CC's and 1 AU CC
  • 1 auto loan, UTI = 15%
  • Scoreable inquiries (on both EX and TU) = 2/6, 2/12 (both are mortgage HP's, so FICO counts them as 1)
  • AAoA = 6yr 0m
  • AoOA = 12yr 1m
  • AoYA = 1yr 10m
  • BK7 from 2012

PenFed Instant Gold Signature Approved

Hi Everyone.

After choosing post DC rebuild cards displayed below in my siggy all was settled in my mind to simply sit & wait out the entire of 2021. With my NFCU nRewards card set to go unsecured in a few months (March or April), it was a logical step to just work toward SP CLI's on the cards already approved for. It's also a first ever effort for me starting from bare scratch after a torturous BK7.

It bares mentioning that i had a single PenFed CC about 4 years ago in good standing at $5K that i eventually closed to maintain where my lowest CL would be to the $10K level and keep U/W eyes looking up not down on new tries.

Combing thru recent and not so recent PenFed threads/replies/data points out of pure curiosity, interesting results began to emerge which got me to thinking. I honestly had no intentions to add to the stack of Inquiries accumulated from efforts took to stage up something/anything worth building on farther down the line.

I was a member of PenFed from a few years ago but had'nt put all that much confidence forward with them since NFCU had already proven strong in limits and approvals for me such as APR reductions and CLI's etc.

To be honest i didnt think that i had a snowball's chance (at this point in time) but it screamed at me to fill out an application and if so suck up another waste of time/inquiry. NFCU has my EQ 9 showing 703. So on that particular statistic coupled with ongoing AZEO it seemed there might be a lucky star outside chance.

To my somewhat surprise and welcome relief it came back with an Instant Approval. Completed the resulting process and got the Congratulations email too.

For useful data points, i was declined 12/22 not even 30 days ago for the PCR.  Next month is 1 year post filing not dc if that is something which might prove useful to others trying to edge their way up.

This is my highest limit approval post dc. Conventional wisdom chatter from our resident FICO guru's seem to indicate $5K can often be some threshold looked at for future advancements. I'm just happy to finally be back in with PenFed with an active card account again.

Double dipping Amazon and eBay Synchrony CLIs - 5 days apart

$

I recently had a 2013 Chase CC charge off fall off of my reports moving my scores into the 750-770 range at all three bureaus. I recently applied for and was approved for a couple of AMEX cards (I'll post about that soon). Next, I turned my attention to some cards with stagnant CLs. I first got my Amazon Prime Credit Builder Store Card on 2/10/19 (upgraded from credit builder on 10/1/19) and my eBay Mastercard on 8/22/19. I always PIF, have requested for CLIs every 3-4 months, but no CLIs until last week. They have just been sitting at $350 (Amazon) and $500 (eBay Mastercard), which for Amazon is pretty pointless as my monthly spend on Amazon.com is easily over $1k.

Date: 1/10/21

Amazon Prime Store Card CLI

CLI Amount: $700

New CL: $1050

eBay Mastercard CLI

CLI Amount: $250

New CLI: $750

I asked for $4000 from Amazon but was more than pleased with the $1050 I got. I did the eBay CLI request right after asking for $750 and I got the full amount. Five days later I'm thinking that I left something on the table with the eBay CLI since I got the full amount I asked for. I logged in again and asked for $4000 from Synchrony, I got $1200, which was now more than my Amazon card. Flip back over to Amazon and I ask for $4000, I get $2500 approved. Ok, now we're talking. This is a CL that will meet my Amazon needs.

eBay Mastercard CLI

CLI Amount: $450

New CLI: $1200

Just thought I would share since it was interesting that I could get a 2nd CLI on both Synchrony cards only 5 days later. YMMV.

My boyfriend and I are both approved for paypal cash back card, he got it one year before me, his starting limit is higher a little bit, and he has a little bit longer credit history, he has a little bit higher credit score, basically he is better than me in any way in credit.  Today, I noticed the difference between our card, his card has world on it, and my card does not have the world on it.  Obviously he has the better version of the mastercard, does that mean better credit will get the world mastercard, and bad credit will get the regular mastercard?  Did anyone get the world elite mastercard paypal?  How and why did some people get different versions of the paypal mastercard?  Depends on the credit or something else?

Thank you very much.
